Lechon Pit Cebu opens at The Mactan Newtown
As locals say, a visit to Cebu is incomplete without a taste of its culinary pride – the lechon (roast suckling pig).
Tourists can now enjoy the delicacy at the new restaurant, Lechon Pit Cebu, in the 350-seater food strip, Mactan Alfresco, a covered dining strip patterned after Singapore’s famed hawker centers. Mactan Alfresco is located at Megaworld’s sprawling The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City.
Lechon Pit allows diners and visitors to witness firsthand how the world famous pork dish is prepared – from seasoning to roasting, before being chopped and served on plates.
Cebu’s top lechon-makers and Mactan Alfresco mainstays Ayers Lechon, Cebu Lechon Belly, Ana’s Lechon, will be preparing and roasting their signature lechon dishes in the Lechon Pit, which can hold a maximum of 12 lechons in a given time.
“More than exciting their palates, we hope that through this Lechon Pit, more tourists can have a newfound appreciation of our national dish and hopefully help us promote it to their fellow tourists”, said Megaworld senior vice president and head of Megaworld lifestyle malls Kevin Tan.
Tourists looking to enjoy this one of a kind gastronomic experience can visit Mactan Alfresco and witness live lechon roastings every Wednesday, and from Friday to Sunday, from 3PM onwards.
